Saturated monohydric primary and secondary alcohols react with sulfur dichloride to give sulfoxylate esters, ROSOR, in 50-70% yield. Optimum temperatures are in the-75 to-95" range with methylene chloride or chloroform as solvent and triethylamine as acid acceptor.
