Abstract

Results Phenyl 1-Phenyl-1-propenyl Sulfide (I).-Treatment of I with diborane followed by hydrolysis and oxidation with hydrogen peroxide produced a volatile fraction which, when separated on Florisil, gave thioanisole (11)(50%) and an alcoholic fraction (26.5%). The alcohol fraction was shown to be 1-phenyl-1-propanol (111) and 1-phenyl-2-propanol (IV) in a ratio of 98: 2. Careful analysis of the crude reaction mixture by gas-liquid ...
