Human Endogenous Metabolite

In Vitro Parathyroid hormone (PTH) has biphasic effects on bone: continuous treatment is catabolic whereas intermittent treatment is anabolic[2]. Parathyroid hormone secretion can be improved by physical exercise[2].
In Vivo Parathyroid hormone (hPTH1–34) (40 μg/kg, s.c.; daily for 2 weeks) exerts a catabolic effect on mouse bone with a significant decrease in trabecular connectivity density[3]. Animal Model: 10-week-old female C57BL/J6 mice[3] Dosage: 40 μg/kg Administration: Subcutaneous injection, daily for 2 weeks Result: Significantly suppressed endogenous intact mPTH1–84 from 2.40 ± 0.55 pM (control) to 0.73 ± 0.25 pM, and significantly increased total serum calcium levels from 1.95 to 2.64 mM.
