In Vitro | Crocin IV (Dicrocin; 10 μM; 24 hours) has little or no effect on the prolongation of cell survival in PC12 cell[1]. Crocin IV enhances γ-GCS mRNA expression in serum-deprived and hypoxic PC12 cells[1]. Measurements of cell viability, peroxidized membrane lipids and caspase-3 activity showed that the rank order of the neuroprotective potency at a concentration of 10 μM is crocin>tricrocin>dicrocin and picrocrocin (the latter two crocins had a little or no potency)[1]. |
