Abstract

Benzene and arylalkanes having no benzylic hydrogens react with ethylene only under more vigorous conditions to yield products in which the aromatic ring has been eth~ lated.~ The mode of addition of arylalkanes to substituted ethylenes has been shown to be highly selective.
