Abstract
In a previous paper3 we reported the preparation of 2, 8-diaminodibenzothiophene-5- dioxide which is the simplest of the o, o'bridged diaminodiphenyl sulfone derivatives. The thiaxanthenes and thiaxanthones which were of primary interest to us in this investigation may be considered to be derived from 4, 4'-diaminodiphenyl sulfone by joining the 2, 2'positions with methylene and carbonyl groups respectively.
