Abstract

-Bis (2-cyanoethyl) amine (24.6 g., 0.2 mole) in 50 ml. of methanol was added dropwise to an ice-cooled, stirred solution of 30 nil. of 37yo aqueous formaldehyde (0.4 mole) in 30 nil. of niethanol. Hydroquinone (11 g., 0.1 mole) was added and the solution stirred for 10 min. on an ice bath. After the solution was refluxed for 4 hr., the solvents were removed by evaporation under the hood.
