Abstract
D-Gala-L-gulo-octito1.-A solution of 2.0 g. of D-gala+ gulo-octose in 50 cc. of water was agitated at 80'with Raney nickel and hydrogen under a pressure of 100 atmospheres for four hours; the catalyst was removed by filtration and the filtrate, which did not reduce Fehling solution, was concentrated in vacuo to dryness.
