Abstract

Methylene diphenyl disulfone has been found to be easily alkylated and readily soluble in aqueous sodium hydroxide.'The activity of the methylene group in this compound was greater than that of a methylene group in 1, 3-diketones and appeared to be due to the fact that it is situated between two sulfonyl groups.
