Abstract

Abstract Acetoxyethyl radicals, generated by decomposition of di-t-butyl peroxide in the presence of 2-methyl-1, 3-dioxolane, react with aromatic compounds to give substitution products. From the orientation and relative reactivity data resulting from attack of acetoxyethyl radicals on several monosubstituted benzenes, it is concluded that the radical has a nucleophilic character.
