Abstract
The synthesis of amino diol 2 in several steps from amino alcohol 5 allows the incorporation of the tridentate ligand in a pentacoordinate iodine species. This tridentate ligand provides stability to a hypervalent system due to its various structural features, including the five- membered rings.
