Abstract
In the preceding article1 a new method of synthesizing desoxybenzoins (benzylphenyl ketones) by means of the Grignard reaction was described. It was found that these compounds could be prepared by the reaction of benzylmagnesium halides with primary benzamides and that quite satisfactory yields were obtained when the reactants, in the ratio of three to four equivalents of the former to one of the latter, were heated over suf-ficiently ...
