Abstract

Based on the mechanistic interpretation of α-imino esters formation, we anticipated that this strategy would be similarly applicable to the oxonium ylide and azodicarboxylates to give aryl α-keto esters. A proposed reaction mechanism for this reaction is given in Scheme [2] . We envisioned that the reaction would initially form an oxonium ylide 3 from the aryl diazoacetates 1 and H 2 O catalyzed by Rh 2 (OAc) 4 . The ylide would be trapped by DEAD to give adduct 4. ...
