Abstract
Alkanes are among the least reactive yet most abundant chemicals. Efficient functionalization of alkanes leading to the production of useful organic chemicals in an industrial scale is of considerable interest for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries and remains a long-term challenge for chemists.
