Abstract

Summary Hydrogenation of rotenone results in the formation of a neutral and an acid compound as primary products. The neutral compound is dihydrorotenone and is formed by the simple reduction of an unsaturated bond. Dihydrorotenone melts at 164", instead of 216" as recorded by Kariyone. The acid is easily separated from the reaction mixture and has the same empirical formula as dihydrorotenone, C23H2406. On further reduction, both ...
