Abstract
Ketones possessing α-hydrogen undergo smooth thiocyanation with ammonium thiocyanate in the presence of N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) at room temperature in acetonitrile under neutral conditions to produce the corresponding α-ketothiocyanates in excellent yields with high selectivity.
