Abstract
In the terahertz (THz) frequency range, a semiconductor-based technology for ultra-short pulse generation has yet to be realized. Here, a novel dispersion compensation scheme is applied to THz Quantum Cascade Lasers, based on an on-chip integration of a Gires-Tournois Interferometer, greatly reducing the THz pulse duration to a few optical cycles.
