Abstract
Lung tissue can robustly regenerate functional alveolar units after injury, but the mechanisms are unknown. Lechner et al. (2017) in this issue ofCell Stem Celldemonstrate that lung regeneration is facilitated by bone-marrow-derived myeloid cells that are recruited to the lung through a CCL2-CCR2 chemokine axis and by IL-13 expressing innate lymphoid cells.
