Abstract

Bicyclo [4.2. 2] deca-2, 4, 9-trien-7-one (1, 5035%) and spiro [bicyclo [4.2. 1] nona-2, 4, 7- trien-9, 2'-oxirane](6, 15-50%) result from reaction of bicyclo [4.2. l] nona-2, 4, 7-trien-9-one (1) and diazomethane. Bicyclo [4.2. 2] deca-2, 4, 9-trien-7-one tosylhydrazone (7) is converted by methyllithium to bicyclo [4.2. 2] deca-2, 4, 7, 9-tetraene(8, 78%), cis-9, lO- dihydronaphthalene (9,< 1%), and naphthalene (5%). 7-Acetoxy-(10) and 7- ...
