Abstract
Improved procedure for the synthd of aryl thiocyanatm have been developed. A ceria of alkyl and aryl thiocyanakn has been converted to 5-(auhstituted) mercaptotetmwla by reaction with txside ion in dimethylfo" nide in the p-ce of ammonium chloride. The 5-(mbetituted) memaptotetramlea undergo decompoeition, at or near their melting pohb, to hydraGoic acid and the corresponding thiocyanate.
