Abstract

Abstract No products of addition to the multiple bond are formed in reactions of TsiSiMe 2 R species (Tsi=(Me 3 Si) 3 C; R= CH CH 2, CH 2 CH CH 2, or (C CPh) with halogens or hydrogen halides. TsiSiMe 2 CH CH 2 gave (a) TsiSiMe 2 Cl on treatment with ICl in CCl 4;(b) TsiSiMe 2 Br on treatment with Br 2 in CCl 4;(c) TsiSiMe 2 I (slowly) on treatment with I 2 in CCl 4 and (d) TsiSiMe 2 OCOCF 3 on treatment with neat CF 3 CO 2 H.
