Abstract

In recent years,'we have reported the reaction of carbonyl compounds with azolylmethyl anions 2a-e derived from the fluoride-or alkoxide-induced desilylation of 1-[(trimethylsilyl) methyl] azoles la-e (Scheme I). The reaction of l-[(trimethylsilyl) methyl]-1, 2, 4-triazole (la) with carbonyl compounds in the presence of fluoride catalyst proceeded smoothly, while that of 1-[(trimethylsily1)-methyllpyrrole (la) failed.
