Abstract
The addition of aromatic aldehydes to certain lithium dialkylamides in benzene or tetrahydrofuran gave a-amino alkoxides which were ortho lithiated with excess n- butyllithium. Subsequent alkylation and hydrolysis provided ortho-substituted aromatic aldehydes via a one-pot reaction.
