Abstract: NAY-Trimethyl-P-phenylphosphinothioic amide (1) was prepared from phenylphosphonothioic dichloride by sequential treatment with methylmagnesium halide, sulfuryl chloride, and dimethylamine. Treatment of 1 in tetrahydrofuran with butyllithium afforded P-(lithiomethyl)-N, N-dimethyl-P-phenylphosphinothioic amide (2).
