Interaction of dicyandiamides with thioureas: formation of Hexahydro-4, 6-diimino-1-aryl-1, 3, 5-triazine-2-thiones and amidinothioureas

Abstract

Abstract Dicyandiamide and aryldicyandiamides react with thiourea and N-arylthioureas in the presence of concentrated hydrochloric acid to yield hexahydro-4, 6-diimino-1-aryl-1, 3, 5- triazine-2-thiones and amidino/arylamidinothioureas. Condensation of amidinothiourea with arylcyanamides is also found to produce the same 1, 3, 5-triazine derivatives. The mechanism of formation of these products is briefly discussed.
