Abstract
Hydrolytic kinetic resolution (HKR) as developed by Jacobsen's group 1 provided practical access to both terminal epoxides and 1,2-diols in excellent ee using (R,R)-(salen)Co(OAc) complex A as the catalyst and water as the only reagent.
