Abstract
Various oxidations in acid'and neutral2 solutions have been effected, but hitherto no studies have been attempted in alkaline solution, notwithstanding that thiocarbanilide is soluble in alkalies3 and such solutions afford ready contact with alkaline oxidizing agents. The primary effect of oxidizing agents is to substitute the sulfur atom by oxygen, thus yielding diphenylurea, a compound lending itself to easy separation and identification. When acid ...
