Abstract

Abstract The odor principle β-damascenone and its isomer α-damascenone have been prepared by treatment of the corresponding ethyl safranates with excess allyl lithium followed by alkoxide catalyzed isomerization of the resulting products with β, γ-unsaturated ketonic side chains.
