Abstract

During a study of the possibilities of condensing hydroquinone with certain aliphatic amines to form alkyl derivatives of p-aminophenol the writer observed that when an aqueous solution of hydroquinone and methylamine was allowed to stand exposed to the air it became red and within a few hours deposited a quantity of brilliant red crystal^.^ Since the reaction appeared to take place first at the surface of the liquid it seemed probable that an ...
