Abstract
1.'The tetracarbonyl ferrate dianion, an excellent nucleophile, is fiit readed with an alkyl halide to form the acyliron intermediate 6, the result of initial formation of a carbon-iron bond followed by CO insertion. The intermediate 6 can also be prepared directly from 1 upon reaction with acid halides.
