Abstract
Good yields of CHsPHz and (CH3) zPH are obtained by liquid ammonia reactions of the type 2e-+ 2PH3-* 2PHz-+ HI; CHsCl+ PHz-4 C1-+ CH~ PHZ. The conversion of CHlPHz to (CH&PH by this method is not always efficient, for CH~ PHZ is a weaker protic acid than PHs, and may have some hydridic tendency.
