Abstract: The complexes NiLX2 (L= N-cetylcyclam; X= CI, C104) have been synthesized to be used as carriers for the transport of electrons across a CH2CI2 bulk liquid membrane, through the Ni"/Ni"'redox change. Two-phase (water/dichloromethane) experiments have shown that aqueous peroxydisulfate ion is able to oxidize Ni" LCI2, but not Ni1'L (C104) 2, due to the very large difference of the Ni'llvll redox potentials.
