Abstract

NOz Since 2-nitro alcohols and 2-nitro acids readily undergo deformylation and decarboxylation, respectively, the fluoro derivatives could be expected to serve as convenient precursors to 1-fluoro-1-nitro alkanes. One must bear in mind, however, that a fluorines have been shown to decrease the acidity of substituted nitro methaneslg and this destabilization of nitronate salts would also tend to inhibit the deformylation and ...
