Abstract

Abstract Azomethine ylides, generated from cyanomethylamino silanes and excess silver fluoride, undergo cycloaddition with quinones to give, after oxidation in situ, quinonoid isoindoles. This reaction provides the key step for a short, high yield synthesis of the Reniera isoindole 1a.
