Abstract

In the course of a study on the synthesis of relatively simple compounds related to the antiarthritic steroids, pharmacological evaluation of various intermediates in these syntheses indicated that unsaturated carbinols exhibit hypnotic activity in several species of experimental ani mal^.^ Although the literature is replete with examples of the hypnotic effect of alcohols, little pharmacological work has been done with these substances in the past ...
