Abstract
Arylsulfonylhydrazones decompose in alkaline media on thermolysis (Bamford-Stevens reaction) or on UV irradiation. The thermal method is known to produce a diazo hydrocarbon, which gives products by carbenic and/or cationic routes according to the reaction conditions.
