Abstract
Although the facts concerning the reaction of hydrogen bromide upon silicon at elevated temperatures have long been known in a general way, and the similarity of this reactionto that of hydrogen chloride upon silicon has been pointed out, especially by the work of such investigators as Buff and Wohler,'Gattermann, 2 Besson and F~ urnier,~ and Combes,* no very precise data concerning the necessary conditions, the purity of the materials used, ...
