Abstract
Chlorgmethylation of meconin (I1; R= OMe, R'= H) gives 4-chloromethylmeconin (11; R= OMe, R'= CH, Cl) which on treatment with N-bromosuccinimide followed by hydrolysis produces 3-formylopianic acid (111; R= OMe, R'= CHO). Some reactions of the latter
