Abstract
URu0.29Ge2 is a new germanide crystallizing in a monoclinic structure (C2/c space group, lattice parameters: a = 4.098(1) Å, b = 15.936(3) Å, c = 4.045(1) Å and β = 90.091(2)°) derived from the CeNiSi2-type. It undergoes a ferromagnetic ordering at TC = 63 K, which manifests itself as distinct anomalies in temperature variations of the magnetization, specific heat and electrical resistivity. Just below TC, the T-dependent resistivity exhibits a broad hump, which hints at complex magnetic structure of the compound, while below 5 K it shows an upturn that likely arises due to atomic disorder in the crystal lattice.
