Abstract

The half-sandwich rare earth metal complex, [(C5Me4SiMe3)Sc(CH2SiMe3)2THF]/[Ph3C][B(C6F5)4], is an effective cationic initiator system to afford high-molecular-weight polyisobutylene and isobutylene–isoprene copolymer at relatively mild conditions.
