Abstract

Summary: Cyclopentyne 2, as generated from dibromomethylenecyclobutane 1, adds stereospecifically cis to both cisto 1, 4-addition with 1, 3-butadiz. and trans-2-butene and prefers 1, 2-Thispoints to an antisymmetrical singlet ground state of the cyclopentyne diradical.
