Abstract
γ-Epoxy sulfones in which the epoxide function is terminal yield cyclopropylmethanol derivatives on reaction with methyllithium or lithium diisopropylamide. In contrast, treatment of these epoxides with two equivalents of CH3MgI gives only cis-3- phenylsulfonylcyclobutanols.
