Abstract
The introduction of iodine into aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene, cymene, etc., using nitric acid as an oxidizing agent was first described by La Datta and Chatterjee.'The method has been studied in detail in this Laboratory and the following paper is an account of the reaction as applied to the phenol ethers.
