Abstract
Benzodiazepines and its derivatives constitute an important class of heterocyclic compounds, which possess a wide range of therapeutic and pharmacological properties. Benzodiazepines enhance the effect of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which results in sedative, hypnotic, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, muscle-relaxant, and amnesic action. 1 These properties make benzodiazepines useful in treating anxiety, insomnia, agitation, seizures, ...
