Abstract

The procedure is as follows: Lithium carbonate and lithium chloride in HMPTA are heated to 160" C in a two-necked flask equipped with an additional funnel and a condenser set for distillation. 1, 2-Dibromocyclohexane is added slowly to the heated mixture, resulting in an immediate distillation of l, &cyclohexadiene. The diene may be used for Diels-Alder and for organometallic synthesea without further purification. NMR spectra show it is at least 95% ...
