Abstract
Formylation is described of carboxylic acids of the R. CH2. COOH type where R is an aromatic or heterocyclic nucleus, chlorine, fluorine, carboxyl, or some carboxyl derivatives. Some derivatives of~-dialdehydes, otherwise uneasily accessible, have been prepared by means of this reaction which consists in eliminating one carboxyl group and introducing two formyl residues.
