Abstract

2-0-Methylsulfonyl-D-arabinose has been obtained through the hydrolysis of methyl 3, 4-0- isopropylidene-2-0-methylsulfonyl-@-D-arabinoside, from the hydrogenolysis of benzyl 2-0- methylsulfonyl-@-~-arabinopyranoside and from the hydrolysis of 4-0-formy~-2-0- methylsulfony1-~-arabinose. Its structure has been confirmed through conversion to the previously known 1, 3, 5-tri-O-benzoyl-2-O-methylsulfonyl-~-~-arab~ nose. Benzoylation ...
