Abstract

The electrochemical oxidation of 1, 3-diketones and 2-substituted 1, 3-diketones in the presence of olefin gave the [3+ 21 cycloadducts, dihydrofuran and tetrahydrofuran derivatives, respectively. A mechanism involving electrooxidative formation of the radical intermediate from the diketone followed by addition to the olefin has been proposed.
