Abstract

The reactions of dialkyl phosphonates, with aldehydes and ketones to give dialkyl a- hydroxyalkylphosphonates, and with olefins to yield dialkyl alkylphosphonates are discussed. Trialkyl phosphites react smoothly and vigorously with hydroperoxides (oxidation- reduction) to yield the trialkyl phosphate and the corresponding alcohol.
