Abstract

In a previous paper'the synthesis of 1, 1, 1, 2, 2-pentduoro-2-phenylethane was suggested. This has now been accomplished and a number of fluorine derivatives of both acetophenone and ethylbenzene synthesized. In this work a variety of methods of fluorination were used. In some cases the replacement of chlorine with fluorine was accomplished by the use of antimony fluoride in the Swarts reaction. In other cases ...
